Janus was born in Potchefstroom where he started showing interest in music at the young age of 16 while participating in the school choir. After leaving school Janus went on to go study to be a teacher, but later realized it was not for him. Every man has to make a living somehow, so Janus decided to fall back on music and make it his career. Janus entertains crowds wherever he goes. with his great sense of humor and energetic stage personality, Janus knows how to get the crowds going. His show includes: Afrikaans, English, Country, Golden Oldies as well as some good comedic impersonations of some of South Africas best.

Driving back from a performance engagement at about 22h00 on Sunday the 24'th of April 2011 Janus and a friend of his lost control of his dark blue Isuzu bakkie just after the tunnel on the eastern exit of the dam. After going into cardiac arrest Janus remained in a coma before passing away just before 13h00 on Thursday. Janus will always be remembered as the light of the party making people laugh wherever he went.
