Port Elizabeth
born Jacques de Coning started his Afrikaans song writing career in 1998
by writing a song for the "Griekwa" Rugby Team. Jacques later signed
a recording contract with "Select-Musiek" and released his CD called "Afrikaans
my Trots". The CD contained a series of Afrikaans hits written in
a medley style. Jacques soon became famous for this style of singing,
and before he knew it, he was performing to crowds all over South Africa.
Jacques later also took on the position as editor of the famous South African
Music Magazine called "Vonk".
