Albert was born
and bred in Pretoria. He was a finalist in the RSGroentjie-category of
the 2005 GMT-awards (previously referred to as the Geraas Musiek Toekennings).
Albert has previously been described by the media as the most exciting
new artist on the local music scene. At the very young age of only 20 years
his debut album "Dagboek van ‘n Dromer" displays his unique and very personal
style. This strong melodic rock album boasts 12 original works, including
8 Afrikaans and 6 English songs. The first two songs on the album, Lyf
and Within Walls, were play listed by a number of radio stations, many
of them on high rotation. Albert does not regard himself solely as an Afrikaans
musician. He emphasizes the fact that he is more concerned with the music
as such, and wants to feel free to express himself in any language of his
choice.
