Two voices,
Two Guitars and One Soul. One Soul consists of Donovan Thatcher and Jessica
Yallup who are both experienced South African musicians, who have performed
in various professional productions across the country. Donovan and Jessica
met while performing together in a Barnyard production in 2007. Donovan
has played Bass for several established SA bands, namely Shakta, Just Jinger
and Highway Jam. In 2004 he played for the London Band, White Buzz, who
won the Battle of the Bands. Jessica is an established vocalist and Actress,
who has Musical Theatre, Corporate, film and Cabaret experience. She completed
her studies with Trinity Schools in Classical with Distinctions and has
studied Jazz, Popular Voice and Drama at the University of Natal. Jessica
was also a top 50 finalist in the 2007 season of Idols SA and has performed
with the KZN Philamonic orchestra. Jessica and Donovan both play acoustic
guitar creating a rich, flowing ambience which is almost daunting. One
Soul is capable in almost any style or genre, but excels in soft, melodic
ballads. One Souls’ sincerity and warmth puts them above your average Duo
Band. They have an impressively extensive repertoire and are highly passionate,
motivated and fluent with both their instruments and their vocals, with
an undeniable ability to bring out the meaning and feeling behind any song.
