Springcan is
a 4 Piece band from Bloemfontein. This is no cover band and they only f\perform
original music, written by the band members. Their music can be described
as a combination of Rock, Acoustic & Melodic ballads that are influenced
by the diverse styles of all the band members. Early in April 2001 They
recorded their first demo-CD at White Feather studios in Bethlehem a real
DIY version. Our demo has however received airplay on RSFM, (the Free State
University radio station), on Barney simon's show on 5FM and gained us
a couple of gigs at events within their Province. During the middle of
2002 they took part in the RP Studios/Emerging Sounds Competition and they
chosen by a panel of judges to proceed to the Regional Finals. In September
of 2002, they took part in the Jip Rockspaaider competition which was a
real challenge for them, having to perform Afrikaans songs, but they ended
up surprising themselfs and were chosen by the Volksblad (Free state Newspaper)
to go and represent their Province at the National Finals at Aardklop
in Potch. Unfortunately they weren't chosen as the Jip Rockspaaider finalist
but they had the opportunity to be on Kyknet (DSTV) and they received a
lot of publicity in their local newspaper, which was a real boost for their
musical careers. Springcan is a band that is constantly seeking better
ways to express global and personal issues by means of their sounds &
Lyrics. The members of Springcan are all committed to leaving a lasting
impression within SA Music today & becoming one of the Best SA Rock
bands is our first priority.
