Alanfunk
debuted as an eight-piece band sharing the stage with Cape Town DJ legends
HoneyB and Fletcher at friend Alan’s house party in December 2005. The
name stuck, but the garden party moved on to clubs and venues all over
Cape Town, including the Vodacom Jazz on the Rocks Festivals, Barlycorn
Festivals and the City of Cape Town Lights Festival. A debut album
was released in May 2007 and the band ended the year with performances
at the Obzfest and the V/A Waterfront Amphitheatre. AlanFunk also recorded
the theme song to the soon to be released Hollywood documentary “Do you
Believe in Magic” which recently won an African Academy award for best
documentary in Nigeria.
